‘Tis the season when High School Seniors have to choose which college they are going to – like in the next 2 weeks. Gulp. And Drew, here, has so many options and schools that want him, that I definitely feel for the guy. (And his folks…!) (Nothing like the pressure of feeling like this one decision will map out the rest of your life or anything…) But his parents, Lisa & Alan (who are some of the fearless leaders of the Homebuilders Class at Glenkirk Church that offers wisdom and insight on issues like this very topic!) are definitely equipped to help him make the decision. And Lisa is taking notes for me now, so in 7 years, I’ll know what to do. Drew & I had fun hangin’ out for the afternoon… I got the scoop on his potential majors (English, Business, Psychology… oh, to be a teenager again), we got to talk shop a little since he’s taken a Photography Class, I picked his brain a little about being a guy and at what point do they find their “extracurricular calling”, and it was just nice to spend time with a polite young man who offers to carry your stuff. Lisa & Alan, you’ve done a great job with your son… and with 3 more boys to go, you’ll be ready to write a book!

This tree is ALMOST as cool as this family… and it’s a good thing the tree is big, since this family is HUGE on love. Meet the Crawford family – Dottie, Bill, Lauren & her husband, Ozzie (who were in town from Florida before he leaves for his Tour of Duty – THANK YOU, Ozzie for your service to our country!), Shea, Leyla, Eric and Paul… whew! (And please don’t ask me to remember the dogs’ names…) Dottie is known around church as the “hostess with the most-ess”, whose creative talents know no bounds (she’s the force behind the 27,000 VBS crafts they crank out each year) and who is incredibly generous with her time and energy. Bill is a much-loved dentist and together, they have added to their family three times over the years as amazing foster and adoptive parents with 5 amazing kids! It was pretty cool to hang out with them for a couple hours and watch the family dynamics with such a broad range of ages… talk about a long-running stint of keeping up with your kids’ homework! Yikes! So thank you, Crawford family, for welcoming me into your home. And I may just have to ask to rent me your tree for my next big family shoot!
